Air handling systems usually perform most of the critical functions to maintain high-quality air in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Production areas and certain processing zones may require certification, and validation, according to US Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) and therefore the system must be correctly installed and commissioned to a more exacting standard than usual. Once in use, the inspection, maintenance, cleaning and desinfecting of the system must be practical, simple to do and effective.
Since air treatment is one of the major factors of energy-consumption in a pharmaceutical installation, it is obvious to reduce the operational costs by including energy recovery systems and high efficient fans.
